How Can I Be Spiritual In A Hectic World?

Living a spiritual life, does not mean we must sequester ourselves away from everyday life. Nor can we spend hours in deep meditation, it is not a case of choosing to be either Martha or Mary, but, to be a combination of both.

Let us face facts, for those who have full time jobs, and stay at homes moms, time is limited, but, that does not mean we must spend no time in prayer! For we do seem to find the time to watch the TV, we make time to spend on our computers, and for those who love books, they find the time to read. Why is it then that when it comes to God, we claim a lack of time?

Time is precious, yet it is also of the essence. God knows this and it is why He seeks our time. It is why He calls our spirit to spend time with Him in solitude, in the quietness of the heart. For how we spend our time on earth will define where we spend our eternity. God is also aware of this, so like a Loving Father, He calls His children in order to give them the Graces they need to live a wholesome and Holy life.

This is an era where everything is at our finger tips, where we live a fast paced lifestyle in an attempt to have the best of everything. An era in a never ending pursuit of seeking that which can only give us a vicarious thrill. An era of having the latest gadget, the best designer labels, all the things that are supposed to be vital for our happiness. Yet this is also the era of the thriving therapist industry, where rows of self help books are written in order to help us achieve a 'quality life'.

Then why are so many people feeling so empty, what is missing?

God does not call us to spend time with Him for His sake, He calls us for our sake, for the peace we seek can only be found with God. No other source can give us this much needed serenity, tranquility and peace of heart. This can only be found with The Triune Spirit.

To live a spiritual life is to live in awareness of God's Presence, and in that awareness to keep our hearts open to The Holy Spirit. To incorporate everything we do under Divine inspiration, so that nothing is wasted. So, everything we do then, becomes ennobled for love of God, and not for any self seeking praise.

Love should never become a 'duty' nor should we limit God's Action in our lives, by spending allotted times with Him as if He must wait upon us. For our Heavenly Father calls us into relationship, it is we His children that turn that relationship into a 'ritual' as if that were a viable alternative.

In the end have we become too busy for God?

Peace of Christ to you ALL.

What Is Spirituality?

Pots and Pans Spirituality

When we see the word 'spiritual' many busy people sigh and think 'if only I had the time to do all this spiritual business, but my life is hectic', they have the wrong concept of spirituality, for a spiritual life is not about doing but about being fully present with The Divine in any given place or situation. Do we think that we can only 'connect' with God at Mass and that once Mass has finished we put God aside so we can get on with more important things, such as earning a living, providing for our families and taking care of our families.

We live in an Era where we can now order meals at fast food restaurants, where even at home meals can be prepared within minutes with the invention of the microwave oven, we have fridges, freezes, automatic washing machines and clothes dryers, vacuum cleaners, dishwashers. Weren't all these inventions made to make our lives more easy and comfortable, if this is so then why are so many people stressed out?

People are becoming overly stressed in our fast paced manic achieve the best at all costs lifestyles, and sometimes the price many pay is their families. Why is this so? Are we not meant to work in order to provide the very best for our families? Is this not what life is about?

In a way it is yet also it is not, this may seem rather contradictory, what then are we to make of this? How can we become more spiritual?

We have lost focus of why we are working so hard and for whom we work, in other words we are working to gain things and leaving out the essential, and that is to incorporate God into every aspect of our busy lives.

Our Heavenly Father knows we must work to provide for our families, He also knows that a Mothers work is almost never done, from sunrise to sunset people are on the get up and go, with little thought of WHY they are doing what they do and also in forgetting whom they serve.

Spirituality is in essence the acknowledgment of God in every aspect of life, in every activity we do, whether it be painting a roof, fixing a pipe, working in the corporate world, making beds or washing pots and pans, God longs to be involved in our day all 24 hours of it, He does not want to be relegated to a morning prayer and an evening prayer, but for us to live and breathe Him and to make our entire day a Gift for our Beloved, The Triune Spirit.

It is living our life in the continual Presence of our Lord, and to make every duty we do a Gift as if we were working for God and serving Him alone. Our Heavenly Father does not expect us to achieve great things, in that we do not have to earn or merit His Love, but what God does want is for each of us to do little things with Greatness of heart. This is the meaning of living a spiritual life, to be aware of Gods Presence and acknowledge Him through our entire day, to work for Him which then ennobles everything we do, and to make all our duties a Gift from the loved to The Beloved.
